The Painted Wall at Sunset 2

Painted Wall - Black Canyon

The rocks of gneiss and pegmatite that form the Painted Walls of the Black Canyon are nearly 2 billion years old. As the tallest cliffs in Colorado, the view from the Painted Wall overlook is breathtaking, especially on a cool summer sunset. Not far from Montrose,, this national park offers amazing views of this 48 mile long canyon as the Gunnison River snakes its way through the rock walls. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
