Colorado Wildflower Images - The Milky Way over Butler Gulch 3
About two miles up the Butler Gulch trail on a clear night, this is the Milky Way as it rolls across a meadow of Colorado wildflowers. This gulch is just over the mountain and Berthoud Pass from Winter Park, and not far from Empire. Taken as a composite image, the wildflowers were taken just before sunrise when there was a hint of light - enough to bring a little definition and color to the blooms. Fortunately, the winds were calm. The Milky Way image was taken in the middle of a dark night so the stars would shine brightly. The two photographs were later blended together using photoshop to show what our eyes can see but the camera cannot capture. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
